Hello WASC Family!
My name is T.J. Holtz and I am your Region IV President, I am a junior at Oak Creek High School and have been part of student councils for the past six years. I call student council one of my proudest accomplishments.
One thing that I shared at the start of my presidency was that I loved to share ideas throughout councisl so that we can support each other. Something I would love to share is a local tradition for the Oak Creek High School Student Council. We host an event every year called Kiddie Christmas It brings elementary grade students from the Oak Creek Franklin Joint School District together while their parents are able to shop for presents, or just be able to get the kids out of the house for a while on a cold afternoon. At the high school we let the kids take a picture with Santa, decorate their own cookies, make their own tree ornaments and picture frames, play hallway games, etc. At the end of the afternoon we sit down for lunch with a holiday inspired movie. It builds a small profit for councils looking for a small revenue but it’s not about that. It’s about building a bond between the Student Council and the Community is the real reason we put this event on every year. I hope this may inspire other Councils/Senates to think of new creative ideas to get involved with their community. I hope this news feed article finds everyone well, let’s finish off this year strong and I hope to see you all at state!
Best Wishes,
T.J. Holtz
