Our Office Team
BJORN BERG EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Bjorn has been invested in the WASC and student leadership for over 25 years, first as a camper, evolving to counselor, educator, volunteer, speaker and most recently, camp director. In addition to his demonstrated passion for helping students learn and grow, he brings over 15 years of professional and non-profit experience teaching, training, and developing others. His combination of student, WASC, non-profit and professional experience makes him uniquely qualified to lead us forward. His dedication to educate, engage, and empower the student leaders of today and tomorrow, with equity, throughout the state of Wisconsin, is undeniable. Contact: executive@wasc.org | MARY SWINFORD WASC OFFICE ASSISTANT Mary has been active in the WASC for over a decade. She has been a mom to students in the program, an active student council advisor, a member of both the Governing Board and the Executive Governing Board, and the Level 6 Camp Curriculum Director. Currently, she is serving as the WASC Office Assistant. She is a retired middle school science teacher from Green Bay, where she taught and advised the Student Council for over 20 years. JULIE LIETZ PROGRAM MANAGER Julie's leadership path started as a WASC camp delegate in 8th grade. Now serving as a high school English teacher in Wisconsin, Julie serves on our Collaborative Leadership Council, the WASC Board of Directors, and is a Warren E. Shull Nominee. She brings tremendous experience working with student programs, community organizations, and educational institutions. The focus of her new role will be to ensure high-level execution of our school-year programs, including connecting schools to their local communities. Contact: programs@wasc.org
